We've been outside in the garden picking handfuls of cherries!

The juicy, tart & sweet Barbados Cherry (also known as Acerola Cherry) is a truly fantastic addition to the garden. The easy management and hardiness of this lovely little fruiting shrub give it a special place in our hearts! 

With evergreen rounded leaves, dainty pink flowers and vibrant red fruits; they always add a nice aesthetic to the landscape while providing snacks year-round. 

Growing in full sun makes them perfect for bright, sunny spots where other plants might struggle. We planted ours in a spot nothing else seemed to thrive previously, since the ground was very sandy and rocky. 

Plus, with their relatively compact size, they fit into small spaces. They also respond well to annual pruning - as you can see we are now harvesting a big crop after it's summer haircut triggered it to bloom heavy.

And let's not forget about their health benefits - packed with vitamin C, these fruits double as a natural wellness supplement. We like to eat them fresh, also toss them in smoothies and use as a deliciously tart addition to jams. It's such a delight to grow these!
