The only thing I look forward to more than the beginning of mango season is the first batch of homemade spicy mango salsa. I truly believe it to be the perfect food - it can be enjoyed on a chip, on top of chicken, pork, beef, fish, or eggs, on top of sliced avocado, in a black bean quesadilla, or eaten with a spoon in the dark of the night by the light of the fridge.
I like to use Glenn mangos, as they have the perfect balance of flavor to match the rest of the ingredients. If you don't have Glenn, you can use Edward, Valencia Pride, or another "Classic" flavored mango will work – or use your personal favorite! 'Lemon Zest' mango salsa sounds amazing!
In this particular batch, I used 'Jalora' jalapeños and habaneros but you can use whatever pepper is right for your palate. Sweet and spicy, the heat of the habaneros keeps you coming back for the next bite.
If you decide to make Erica's salsa yourself, let us know how you like it! Or, if you've got your own twist on the recipe, we'd love to hear. Drop a comment!
